Athier Mousawi (b. 1982) is a British Iraqi artist based in Paris. A graduate of Central St. Martins, his graphic paintings comprise multi-dimensional symbols of organic figurative and geometric Islamic form. His works are immersive representations of a diasporic identity, referencing the ways in which we idolise our past and imagine our future. Athier has been an Artist in Residence at the British Museum as well as a Chasing Mirrors Artist in Residence at the National Portrait Gallery. He has shown in various group exhibitions as well as solo shows including international venues in Kuwait, Beirut and more recently the Ayyam Gallery, Dubai which represents him.
